The Canadian Road Cycling Championships Continue

Last week, the first half of the Canadian Road Championships was held in Saint-Georges-de-Beauce. Cyclists in the elite category, which also includes a subcategory for those under 23, competed for the national championship titles. Starting this Thursday, it will be the turn for the junior, masters and para-cyclists categories to show their skills.

Guillaume Boivin wins national title

Guillaume Boivin won the road race at the Canadian championships in Saint-Georges-de-Beauce. The Quebec rider edged André Tremblay at the finish. Andrew Hunt was third. All three were 23-years-old and finished ahead of the elite field.

Alison Testroete crowned Canadian road champion
June 27th 2009
Alison Testroete won the gold medal in the women’s road race on the second day of competition at the national championships in St-Georges-de-Beauce. She nipped Gina Grain, the 2007 champion, at the finish line. Merril Collins completed the 135 kilometre race in third spot.

Svein Tuft and Tara Whitten win elite time trials

Svein Tuft of Langley, B.C., coming back from a serious concussion, and Tara Whitten of Edmonton, in her cycling road nationals debut, won the men’s and women’s Canadian titles in the elite time trials on Friday.
