(Saint-Prosper, QC – Le 21 juin 2019) Le cycliste Serghei Tvetcov, de la formation Floyd’s Pro Cycling, a gagné pour une 2e année consécutive le contre-la-montre individuel, vendredi matin, lors de la première partie de la 3e étape du Tour de Beauce, à Saint-Prosper.
Le meneur au classement général, Nicolas Zukowsky (Floyd’s Pro Cycling), a réussi de justesse à conserver son maillot jaune.
Toujours fort rapide sur ce type d’épreuve, Tvetcov, 30 ans, a réalisé un temps de 24 min 27sec. Il a battu le Québécois Adam Roberge de l’équipe canadienne par 12 secondes. L’Américain Brendan Rhim, de l’équipe Arapahoe-Hincapie, a pris le 3e rang à 19 secondes du gagnant.
Dans un classement très serré, le vainqueur de la première étape, Tyler Magner (Rally UHC) termine 4e, 20 secondes derrière Tvetcov. Sur le même parcours, Tvetcov a été un peu moins rapide qu’en 2018.
Premier jeudi au sommet du mont Mégantic, le champion en titre du Tour de Beauce, James Piccoli, a pris le 5e rang avec un temps de 25 min 04 sec. Un autre Québécois, Pier-André Côté (Rally UHC), a réalisé une belle performance en prenant le 8e rang du contre-la-montre.
Au classement général, Zukowsky mène toujours avec seulement 11 secondes d’avance sur Tyler Magner et 18 secondes devant son équipier Serghei Tvetcov. Tout juste derrière, dans l’ordre, suivent Rhim, Piccoli, Roberge et Kyle Murphy. Les sept premiers coureurs dans la course au maillot jaune sont tous dans un écart de moins d’une minute.
Ce mince écart annonce une belle bataille entre les quatre formations Floyd’s, Rally, Arapahoe et Canada qui ont tous des cyclistes en mesure de remporter les honneurs du 34e Tour de Beauce. Lors des deux dernières éditions, le champion est revenu de loin dans les deux dernières étapes pour mettre la main sur le titre.
Vendredi soir, le peloton prendra le départ d'une courte étape de 78 kilomètres au centre-ville de Saint-Georges. Les cyclistes termineront au sommet la 20e Rue à Notre-Dame-des-Pins, une ascension finale longue de 1,2 km à 6,5 %.

SERGHEI TVETCOV, YET AGAIN TAKES TIME TRIAL STAGE WIN
(Saint-Prosper, QC – June 21, 2019) Cyclist Serghei Tvetcov of the Floyd's Pro Cycling team won the individual time trial on Friday morning in Saint-Prosper, stage 3a of the Tour de Beauce.
The overall leader, Nicolas Zukowsky (Floyd's Pro Cycling), narrowly managed to keep his yellow jersey.
Still very fast on this type of event, Tvetcov, 30, achieved a time of 24 min 27sec. He beat Quebec's Adam Roberge of the Canadian National Team by 12 seconds. American Brendan Rhim of the Arapahoe-Hincapie team was third at 19 seconds from the winner.
In a very tight ranking, the winner of the first stage, Tyler Magner (Rally UHC) finished 4th, 20 seconds behind Tvetcov. On the same course, Tvetcov was a little slower than in 2018.
First Thursday at the summit of Mont Megantic, the defending Tour de Beauce champion, James Piccoli, took 5th place with a time of 25 min 04 sec. Another Quebecer, Pier-André Côté (Rally UHC), made a great performance by taking the eighth spot in the time trial.
In the overall standings, Zukowsky still leads with just 11 seconds ahead of Tyler Magner and 18 seconds ahead of teammate Serghei Tvetcov. Just behind, in order, followed Rhim, Piccoli, Roberge and Kyle Murphy. The first seven riders in the yellow jersey race are all within less than a minute from the top position.
This thin gap announces a great battle between Floyd's Pro Cycling, Rally UHC Pro Cycling, Arapahoe|Hincapie p/b BMC and the Canada National Team - that all have cyclists able to win the honors of the 34th Tour de Beauce. In the last two editions of the Tour de Beauce, the champion came back from a large gap in the last two stages to win the title.
On Friday night, the peloton will start a short 78-kilometer stage in downtown Saint-Georges. Cyclists will finish at the top of 20th Street in Notre-Dame-des-Pins, a final climb of 1.2 km at 6.5% considered by race official as a Summit Finish.
